All About Urban Keith

Urban Keith is a country musician and a guitarist and a Grammy award winner. He is well-known in both Australia and the United States. He was born in 1967, on the 26th of October, in Whangarei part of New Zealand. He had his college education at Sir Edmund Hillary College in South Auckland, New Zealand. He left school after he turned 15 years to follow his music career. He moved to Queensland, Australia when he was 17 years together with his parents. His parents were in support of his musical passion, being fans of American country music themselves. His father enrolled him in a music school to take guitar lessons.

His father made a deal with a guitar tutor to display the tutor’s posters in his window shop; in exchange, the tutor was to teach Keith how to play guitar well. Keith got involved with music competitions in the area and also was a member of a band, Westfield Super Juniors. He got his inspiration at an early age from American Country musicians like Jimmy Webb, Don Williams, Dolly Parton and Glen Campbell. Keith got recognition in the as a country musician in Australia by continually performing on ‘Red Lindsay Country Homestead TV Program’ and similar programs on TV. He emerged the winner of the golden guitar award at the Tamworth Country Festival together with Jenny Wilson, his partner in music.

He released several singles and an album in Australia which all became hits. Motivated by his achievements on the home front, he decided to relocate to the United States to continue his musical career there. He formed a band named the Ranch, and these achieve some artistic success. He later quit the band to pursue a career as a Solo artist. He released his first album as a Solo artist who was titled ‘Keith Urban,’ which was an instant hit. This album features his top hit ‘But for the Grace of God’.

The group released an album titled in 1997 which quickly became a commercial success. Besides playing guitar, Keith knows how to play other musical instruments like banjo, bass guitar, an acoustic guitar, and piano. Keith got married to Nicole Kidman, a famous actress from Australia. In 2008, he welcomed a daughter with his wife; he took a break from his super busy career. He continued to achieve musical success after his, as one of his album Defying Gravity which he released in 2009 topped the Billboard 200 for several weeks.

He was nominated as one of the panel judges in the season 12 of the American Idol in 2012. He has starred with the likes of Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, and Randy Jackson on that year’s season of American Idol. On a personal note, Keith had to check into rehab voluntarily in 2006 after the release of his album Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing. In a statement released that period, he confessed to having deeply hurt Nicole which he profoundly regrets. In recent times, he released his Fuse album in 2013 which include hits like ‘We Were Us’.
